Code Structure
How the codes work and their enforcement

The State Veterinary Service (SVS), a division of Defra, are responsible for carrying out the planned and random inspections which monitor farms in the UK.

Hear as Nick Shearman, head of DEFRA's "On-Farm Animal Welfare Team" explains how farmers are notified of the codes, how they can be used as legal documents in court and the SVS and their duties.
